Welcome to my Blog where I will share tips and tricks, advice and information to help you with your own interiors journey.

My whole philosophy is based around the belief that in your home you make the rules about how you want it to look. Slavishly following the latest trends is expensive, time consuming and ultimately won't bring you home happiness. But neither will painting everything white and hoping for the best.

Finding out what your own interior style is and getting to understand what makes you happy - the colours that make your heart soar and the things you need around you for inspiration and a sense of well being - that is the key to unlocking the door to a home that you will continue to love for many years to come.
So my Blog will be full of ideas to help you do just that. I'll give you my tips on combining colour and pattern, how to perfectly integrate your own treasured objects in a scheme, how to make the best use of space and available light and much more besides.

But for my very first one (please be kind) I thought I'd introduce myself and explain a little bit about who I am.

As a child there were two things I loved doing more than anything - rearranging my bedroom and writing stories. As I got older I toyed with the idea of becoming a journalist but ended up working in marketing and communications for many years instead. I met some wonderful people along the way and always loved hearing their stories.

Fast forward a few years, with a slight detour along the way where I trained and pursued a career as a florist,  I began doing up my own homes. Soon after friends and family started to ask me for help and advice with their projects and voila! Kate Parslow Interior Design was born (it wasn't quite that quick or easy but more about that another time).

Now, as an interior designer, having travelled the world, done various jobs and met lots of people from all walks of life, I realise that the most interesting homes are those that tell the story of the people who live in them. Minimalist white boxes just don't do it for me. I want to walk into a house and get a real  sense of the lives and loves of the people inside.

So, if I can help you achieve this in some small way through my blog, whether you live in a one-bedroom studio flat or a sprawling period property, I absolutely will.  It also means that I get to spend time writing stories on my most favourite topic - homes. My six year old self would be delighted!

Loved your interview on BBC Radio Shropshire. You are fabulous! You have given me so many cost effective ideas to spruce and shake things up in my house. Love the framed wall paper idea. Thank you! I look forward to hearing more from you.
